MUSTANG AUTO CROSS
You have a great car, now let’s let the Pony out and try to sharpen your driving skills.
Open to Sturgis Mustang Rally registrants only.
Autocross events are low to medium speed car control events. The course will be defined using traffic cones.
One driver at a time negotiates the course laid out with the cones and flags testing their skill against the clock.
Time penalties are charged for disturbing cones and failing to stop in designated area.
The penalty is 1 second per cone and 1 second for failing to stop in the Stop zone.
Autocross is a driving event that emphasizes safe, with low to medium speed. Safety is always a concern.
We will provide an on site inspection for your Mustang. Helmet is required; if you don’t have a helmet one will be provided. All lose items must be removed or secured. Seatbelts must be on before entering the course.
Drivers will be allowed up to 3 practice runs before main event. Weather permitting.
This is an elimination event, depending on the number of cars. After the 1st run the bottom tier will be eliminated.
The elimination of the bottom tier will continue till we have 16 cars left.
These Cars (Sweet 16) will receive an Award and Cash Prize.
16 cars will race again, bottom tier will be eliminated. 8 cars left (Elite 8). The (Elite 8) will receive an additional cash prize. At this point the Elite 8 may bet their winnings on the next race or keep it. The bottom tier will be eliminated.
4 cars (Fantastic 4) will receive additional cash prize plus their share of the (Elite 8 pot).
2 Cars left now may bet their winnings or keep it.
We enter the finals, The race is 3 out of 5 to determine 1st and 2nd place. Winner of each heat will race 1st.
2nd place will receive a Trophy and 2nd place Cash prize
1st Place will receive a Trophy and 1st place Cash prize plus prize pool
